Munnar is considered one of the best (popularity wise) hillresorts in Kerala and all of southern India. Munnar is part of the Western Ghats and belong to the Idukki district. Munnar (name) is said to have come from the Malayalam and Tamil words Munnu (three) and aaru (river); referring to the place's location at the center of the three mountain rivers Kundali, Nallathanni and Mudrapuzha.
