The Napier museum (built in 19th century) is located at the center of Thiruvananthapuram city is an art gallery and natural history museum . The museum was named after John Napier, the then governor general of Madras. The museum showcases the rich history of Kerala and has a huge collection of archaeological artifacts. The building is blend of traditional Kerala, Chinese, Mughal and Italian styles. The gallery is named Sri Chitra Art gallery and houses some of the best paintings of Raja Ravi Varma and other artists.
